Medical Trauma and Phobias

Medical trauma and phobias are more common and devastating than they should be, but there is currently too little adequate, empathetic treatment.

A medical phobia is any fear of a medical object or situation that causes distress and avoidance of healthcare.  Medical trauma is what happens when overwhelming medical events leave a lasting impact on a person, often causing them to avoid or delay healthcare.

I am on a mission to help medical phobia sufferers and therapists who treat medical trauma and phobias feel less alone, more equipped to heal, and ready to self-advocate.

If you would like to work towards a healthcare goal, or you are a therapist seeking consultation, I would love to work with you.

Brave Enough

If you could have just gotten “over it”, you would have by now!
You do not lack bravery - you are already brave enough. Reducing phobia symptoms takes time and care.  The approaches I work with emphasize:

empathy
evidence
choice
mindfulness techniques

EMDR
ACT
gradual, collaborative exposure that YOU choose.

By taking small, manageable steps, you can slowly reshape your fears, building confidence and control along the way. You can learn to replace feelings of panic with a sense of strength, and curiosity.
